State Highway 6 between Westport and Greymouth has reopened to one lane at the site of a further slip at Meybille Bay.
Road users should take care as traffic is managed through the area.
1.30pm – Further slip closes SH6 on West Coast
A continuation of an existing slip at Meybille Bay has closed State Highway 6 between Westport and Greymouth today.
The area was closed on Monday after the earlier slip, and further debris has now come down and blocked the road.
Road users are being asked to use an alternate route. A detour is available for southbound traffic via SH6 from Lower Buller Gorge onto State Highway 69, continuing onto State Highway 7 from Reefton, then returning onto SH6 in Greymouth. The reverse applies for northbound traffic. These detours will add approximately 90 minutes to your journey time.
Crews will be working to clear the slip and an update will be provided later today.
