State Highway 25 closed at Manaia - Coromandel
State Highway 25 (SH25) is now CLOSED at Manaia. The Manaia river has burst its banks and flooded the highway.
Manaia is 42 kilometres north of Thames and 17 kilometres south of Coromandel township.
On the other side of the peninsula, SH25 RE-OPENED at Hikuai earlier this morning, after a closure at the intersection with State Highway 25A (SH25A) due to flooding. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) contractors are monitoring the road here, with high tide approaching.
SH25A is open between Kōpū and Hikuai, but at a reduced temporary speed limit.
Difficult driving conditions continue around the Coromandel Peninsula and road users are advised to drive with caution.
