NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 18 Aug 2025 2:34pm | Manawatū-Whanganui

A stretch of State Highway 1 in Bulls between Watson Street and Wellington Road will no longer need to close tonight for the recovery of a crashed truck.

A truck and trailer unit crashed earlier yesterday morning, ending up in a paddock alongside the state highway.

Crews have recovered the truck much earlier than expected, while the road has been under stop/go traffic management. As a result, a crane is no longer needed and the road will not need to close from 7pm.

This stretch of SH1 is currently reduced to single lane and under stop/go traffic management until the end of the day while crews finalise the clean up.

Road users should continue to expect delays of up to 10 minutes while stop/go traffic management remains in place.
